Zeman criticized the Prague court for mitigation of quarantine measures

PRAGUE, April 23 – RIA Novosti. Czech President Milos Zeman on Thursday criticized the decision of the Prague city court on cancellation of a series of measures taken by the Ministry of health under the quarantine because of the spread of coronavirus, said the press Secretary of the President Jiri Ovcacek.

Earlier Thursday, the Prague city court has recognized eligible complaint expert on medical law of ondřej got canceled and declared to the quarantine restrictions on the movement of citizens, and also closing stores (except food) and services. These measures cease to operate on April 27.

“the Court assumes full responsibility for the implementation of its ruling. This applies both to the impact on the health and lives of citizens and the economy of the whole Republic”, – quoted Ovcacek the President’s words, adding that Zeman once again supported the previously adopted measures against coronavirus.

According to the Chairman of the Senate of the city court of Prague štěpán Election, the measures which the court overruled, should have been announced by the Ministry of health, and government.

“the Court should reject the granting of such power to only one Ministry”, – told reporters the Election.

According to the court, the government has until April 27, “that measures restricting the free movement of citizens, as well as the closure of shops and service businesses, to take legal form, that is as a crisis measure.”

In turn, Minister of health Adam Vojtech told reporters that his Department will seek a solution to the existing restrictive measures consistent with the court order.

“We seek such a solution that was implemented the court’s order and at the same time preserved the measures that from an epidemiological point of view the key to limit the expansion of the coronavirus,” said Vojtech.
