Inhabitants of Amsterdam asked the authorities to limit visits to the city by tourists. A petition calling for the city Council of Amsterdam has already signed more than 18 thousand people.

it is proposed to introduce a limit on the accommodation of tourists in the next five years, to prohibit the establishment of new hotels and rental housing, and to increase tourist taxes, RIA Novosti reported, citing DutchNews.nl. If the petition will gather 27 thousand signatures, enough to force city Council to hold a referendum.

Meanwhile tourists began to return to the Netherlands. The government has already said that he expects visitors from most European countries except the UK and Sweden. Guests from outside the EU are not yet able to visit the country.
