As reported by “the Rambler”, August 9, in Belarus presidential elections were held. According to the CEC, the elections were won by incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko – he scored more than 80% of the votes.

Lukashenko began to lose allies

The main rival of Lukashenko Svetlana Tikhanovski did not recognize the election results and demanded a partial recount. After the voting in Belarus began protests, which were harshly suppressed by the police, Riot police and internal troops.

13 Aug across Belarus held a strike at the largest enterprises: the BelAZ, MAZ, Minsk tractor plant (MTZ), Belarusian steel works, “Grodno-Azot”, etc. Workers demand to stop the violence of security forces against peaceful demonstrators and the recount of votes in the election.
