According to him, the best guarantee for the absence of Iran’s nuclear weapons is “not a Joint comprehensive plan of action” (SVPD). Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia commented on US policy towards Iran. He noted that the US goal is regime change in the Islamic Republic or the creation of a situation in which Iran is literally nothing to breathe.
In 2018, the US unilaterally withdrew from SVPD and imposed sanctions against Tehran. The US administration has stated the need to cut exports of Iranian oil to zero, and to impose sanctions against the country.
