At least 15 soldiers of the Afghan national army and border troops were killed and 9 were injured as a result of several attacks of insurgents in Paktia province in Eastern Afghanistan, reported RIA Novosti head of the district Patan eyd Mohammad Ahmadzai (Eiyd Mohammad Ahmadzai).

"Last night militants attacked three military checkpoint, and border clashes continued until the morning," he said.

According to local residents, the militants managed to take over, however, Ahmadzai denied the report, noting that several of the attackers were killed or wounded.

Movement "Taliban" have not yet issued statements about the attack.

The confrontation between government forces and militants of the radical movement "Taliban" in Afghanistan continues, despite efforts to launch the peace process. At the end of February at a ceremony in Qatar, USA and "Taliban" signed the first for more than 18 years of war a peace agreement, which provides for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in 14 months and the beginning of an intra-Afghan dialogue in March after a transaction for the exchange of prisoners.
