According to the Prime Minister of Lebanon Hassan Diab, the cause of the explosion was improper storage 2 750 tons of ammonium nitrate. The neighboring buildings, as well as those located in a radius of several kilometers from the explosion, shattered Windows, destroyed part of the buildings.
