Prostitutes were offered financial assistance

Japan has offered financial assistance to sex workers, which are the same as other citizens of the country, suffered from the coronavirus. It is reported by CNN.

To soften the economic blow, the country has allocated a stimulus package of 108 trillion Japanese yen (about 989 billion). Sex workers also have the right to apply for assistance, but they will have to comply with the conditions that will set the government. However, prostitutes themselves are sceptical.

“the Government indicated quite clearly that on every request. There are a lot of people who can die from starvation without work”, — said Mick, the interlocutor of CNN. According to her, many sex workers requirements for obtaining financial assistance seem suspicious, since officially in Japan banned prostitution. Mika added that the conditions for receiving support is also not clear: in particular, many sex workers are unable to prove loss of income, because most often they receive “the grey salary”.

Due to the spread of coronavirus infection and the introduction of quarantine measures Japanese prostitutes are deprived of their only source of income. They can’t find another job because no one hires new employees in the midst of the economic crisis, said CNN.

According to the latest data, the country more than 10.8 thousand infected with a coronavirus. 238 people died, 1069 — cured.
