Poland will create a permanent financial support to independent media in Belarus, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki speaking in the Sejm and presenting the program to support civil society of Belarus.

“Belarus needs media pluralism. We will create permanent funding mechanisms for independent media”, – reports TASS words Moravcova.

Morawiecki also recalled that Poland has for many years funded “Belsat”, spending about 40 million zloty (10 million dollars). According to him, “at a time when in Belarus at any moment can be disconnected, journalistic channels should be as large as possible”.

Earlier, Moscow expressed hope that the Belarusian authorities will treat the work of journalists in performing their editorial tasks with respect.

Recall that mass protests began across Belarus on 9 August, after the presidential election, won by incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko with 80,08% of the vote.
