President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko released the detained Russians, but will trade for them with Russia for several months. This opinion URA.RU stated the political scientist, the editor of the magazine “Russia in global policy” Chairman of the Presidium of the organization “Council for foreign and defense policy” Fyodor Lukyanov.

“the Release of the detained Russians after the presidential elections of Belarus would be rational and correct. But in this case, Lukashenko will be traded with Russia for the detainees”, — said Lukyanov.

According to him, the President of Belarus wants to receive benefits from the release of the detainees and the resolution of the issue could drag on for months.

The analyst noted that Lukashenko in case of successful end of the campaign wants to improve relations with Russia. “But Russia’s behavior is impossible to predict,” — said Lukyanov. According to him, the detention of Russians can greatly affect the relationship between countries.

On the night of July 29 it became known about the detention of more than 30 people in the South of Belarus. The security service of the Republic said that all detainees are Russians, and belong to PMC “Wagner”. Alexander Lukashenko convened an urgent meeting of the security Council of Belarus after the arrest of more than 30 Russians, who allegedly threatened the security of the country during the presidential elections. The incident Lukashenko called “an accident”, but Russia has accused of “dirty intentions”, reports “Ridus”.
