Lukashenko introduced a draft decree on forestry

Anticipating the discussion given by the decree of the topic, Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the forest was the wealth of the country, and remains. “But this wealth we are sometimes, and maybe often ugly,” stated the President, adding that if nature were treated in the Republic responsibly and respectfully, “we would live not only much better, but the virus would have not taken”.

by the Way, analysts point out that the draft presented to the President the document will significantly change the procedure for the sale of timber on the domestic market. In this regard, Lukashenko asked what specific proposed changes and why today it is impossible to work under the existing rules. “If we come to a common opinion, and it will be profitable and better for our economy and people, we are the system or change, or improve. But one goal – we don’t have barbaric attitude to forest resources, the nature. And, secondly, everything we do should be a plus in terms of money, for the budget for the people of the country”, – said the Belarusian leader.

As explained by the head of state Yuri Nazarov, the current rules have been in place for thirteen years. And some of their provisions affect the efficiency of the forestry sector. Today, the income of forestry reduces the cost containment on the wood to ensure raw material industries, which has been upgraded with attraction of the credits under government guarantees. As for the work of the enterprises themselves, then they are not able to consistently buy the wood because of the increased demand in the market: brand-name investors are buying raw materials at higher prices. Thus, the economic efficiency of the modernized enterprises in the face of rising prices and, if necessary, repayment of loans is greatly reduced.

to exclude artificial restraint of the prices for wood resource and enhance economic benefits from its sale, the draft decree provides for the removal from trading, the specific volumes of wood raw material for these industries in the form of state order. This will guarantee the companies stable supply of wood at a fixed price within a year.

Other woodworking enterprises, according to the draft, including those created with attraction of foreign investments, will continue to purchase raw wood on the stock exchange. The remaining volume of wood would be enough to run RB commitments for investment contracts and meet the needs of enterprises.

This mechanism allows to establish the real market value state raw wood, removing an artificial restraint of prices. This is one of the main innovations proposed in the document misleading news ports.

After reviewing the draft decree, the President instructed to finalize the document. This was reported to journalists by Vice-Premier Yuri Nazarov.
