Official ceremony of celebration of Victory Day was held in Jerusalem on Sunday, as this year may 9 fell in Israel on Shabbat.

Sunday afternoon on mount Herzl in Jerusalem held a public ceremony celebrating Victory Day. Because of limitations in connection with the coronavirus, it was held in an abbreviated format without an audience. Participation of the head of the Ministry of aliyah and integration Yoav GALANT, Minister for Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin, head of the Israeli organization of veterans of the war Abraham Grinzaid.

In July 2017, the Knesset adopted a law on the celebration of may 9 Victory Day over Nazi Germany. The document establishes the status of a holiday, the date of the meeting, determines the order of organization of celebrations that are held every year throughout Israel, with the support of Central and local authorities.
