In France the mortality rate has increased by 25 percent compared to the year 2019

MOSCOW, 24 APR – RIA Novosti. Total mortality in France on the interval from 1 March to 13 April, which coincided with the outbreak of coronavirus, increased by 25% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the national Institute of statistics and economic studies of France (Insee).

According to statistics, over the period to 2020 died 93 839 people compared with 75 100 in the previous year and 83 198 in 2018 with a growth of 25% and 13%, respectively.

the Regions with the highest increase in mortality became the capital of the Ile-de-France (91%), Grand-est the North-East of France (61%) and Eastern Burgundy-Franche-comté and North On de France (24%).

In three departments, the mortality rates from 1 March to 13 April compared to the year 2019 more than doubled: the Upper Rhine (144%), Seine-Saint-Denis and Hauts-de-Seine (by 128%).

According to the General Directorate of health (DGS) of the country, on April 24, the number of victims of coronavirus in France exceeded 22.2 thousand people.
