The US administration is preparing a draft new international agreement on the extraction of minerals on the moon. The agreement called Artemis Accords will attract a number of countries, Russia among them yet.

The document suggests the creation of “security zones” around future lunar bases with the aim of “the prevention of damage or interference from the competing countries or companies operating in close proximity”. This agreement also aims to allow companies, a leading mining resources on the moon to give the right to become owners of these resources.

According to Reuters, in the near future, America is planning to discuss the document with Canada, Japan, UAE and several countries of the European Union.

The Agency believes that the lack of Russia in this list suggests that the Pentagon increasingly drew attention to the alleged “threatening” maneuvers of Russian satellites.
