Military and political aspects of regional and international crises, including the situation in Iran, Libya, Syria and the consequences of a pandemic coronavirus were discussed by the representatives of France and Russia in the framework of consultations on strategic stability held in Paris on Thursday, according to the French foreign Ministry.

"Political Director Ministry of foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the armed forces took their Russian counterparts in Paris on Thursday for consultations on issues of strategic stability and regional crises in preparation for the next meeting of the cooperation Council on security issues, uniting foreign Ministers and defense of France and Russia", – said in a communique of the French Ministry of foreign Affairs.

The last meeting of this Council took place in September last year in Moscow.

As noted in the French Ministry of foreign Affairs held consultations on strategic stability were given "the opportunity to take stock of the implementation of the agenda of confidence-and security-launched at the initiative of the President of the Republic (Emanuele Makron) and his Russian counterpart (Vladimir Putin) last summer".

"These consultations also allowed to discuss the political and military aspects of different regional and international crises such as the situation in Iran, Libya, Syria, African continent, as well as the geopolitical consequences of the pandemic Covid-19", – said in a communique of the foreign Ministry.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian side at the consultations in Paris represented by the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov and Grushko Alexander Deputy head of the defense Ministry Alexander Fomin.
