Since may 1, in Russia comes into force a law banning the sale of alcoholic beverages in small catering facilities, located in apartment houses and adjacent territories. About it writes “the parliamentary newspaper”.

As noted, the law was adopted on 17 April the Federal Assembly, and on 24 April it was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the document, the ban covers establishments with an area less than 20 square meters. Regional authorities received the right to impose additional restrictions that increase the minimum possible area of such establishments. They are also empowered to ban the sale of alcohol in cafes in residential buildings.

the authors of the document had previously stated that it aims to combat so-called “Nalivaiko” – small bars located on the first floor and selling alcohol at night.

the Reason for the legislative initiatives were the numerous appeals and complaints of the citizens dissatisfied with a frequent nuisance for nearby residential apartment buildings territories, as well as in yards and on playgrounds.
