The head of the Chuvash Archdiocese, Metropolitan Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvashia died in the hospital with pneumonia, according to the press-service of the Chuvash Archdiocese.
"In 90-m to year of life has departed to the Lord on the Head of the Chuvash Archdiocese, Metropolitan Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvashia, he was diagnosed with double pneumonia", – stated in the message published on the website of the Archdiocese.
It is clarified that the Metropolitan Barnabas was taken to the city hospital and then transferred to the intensive care unit.
His Eminence Barnabas (Cedars), Metropolitan of Cheboksary and Chuvash, was born April 21, 1931 in the village High of Ryazan district of Ryazan region. On 25 February 2001 he was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan.
