Well, for me, the Sokolniki forever associated with the name of the artist and pedagogue Nikolai Sinitsyn, who lived in a tiny apartment on the Bogorodskaya street.

(1912 – 2000)

Artist-nugget was born in the village of Ivankovo near Sergiev Posad. Education teacher, but after moving to Moscow, began to develop the skills of the artist. Managed to achieve great heights in the fields of printmaking, in 1943, began to correspond with a legend engraving art by A. P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva and until the last days of Anna Petrovna was her faithful disciple and executor. Taught painting and drawing at the Sokolniki school # 370. After classes were together in his apartment work.

“If you are a hypnotist, you still possess some unknown power, able to raise people’s creative activity,” said to him one day Ostroumova-Lebedeva. A whole galaxy of young artists, clearly speaking in Soviet art of 1950-ies, were students Sinitsyna and its neighbors in Sokolniki. It was a peculiar people – I dare say, because many knew personally. All of them, alas, are forgotten today.

Let us remember about them. Let’s take a least a fleeting look at what they created in their small cool shops. And, of course, they Sokolniki – love of a lifetime.

(1926-2016)

Student Sinitsyna. Regularly visited his home Studio. Was known for his woodblock prints depicting famous citizens of Russia. In his later years wrote an ode in prose of the postwar Sokolniki:

“Need a queue, the remains of the fences, went for firewood, and however in all there is a spirit of revival. Look through your old albums – they have more than fifty years. Cute Sokolniki! They, too, bears the stamp of post-war desolation. But even in this gorestore – they are original and beautiful!

Removed old snow and old wooden houses. Some are decorated with intricate towers. Fantastically elegant in some places still preserved the wrought-iron fence. Here is the famous Sokolniki tower. The gorgeous resurrection Church, built in 1913 by architect P. A. Tolstoy in Russian art Nouveau style (now foolishly stands next to residential “candle”).

the Park was a wooden cinema hall. From it radiated and extended several miles of alleys, crossed by two polukoltsami alleys lined with larches, birches, maples, elms. Just remember Levitan’s masterpiece “Autumn day. Sokolniki” purchased in 1879 by P. M. Tretyakov for his gallery. Looking at his old drawings. Yes, there is in them an echo of the “school” professionalism. But still seem to be winning the love and sincerity…”

(1922 – 2017)

Student Sinitsyna. He studied at the Sokolniki school N 370. He served in the Navy, fought. After the war he worked as an artist-as a Retoucher in the chronicle TASS, and designed books. In the early 1990s, was blind, but not discouraged, dictated books, the most famous of which is “Tarot. Ancient system of symbols.” Left memories of post-war Moscow and their “universities”

“In may of 1954 Nikolai Sinitsyn staged a home viewing of works Ostroumova-Lebedeva. I was in the role of a student and came a little early invited to do something to help. The show took place in the room of a roommate, as in small rooms Sinitsyna, cluttered with cabinets with books and folders in his collection, there were very few places. Artist Ilya Sokolov I had introduced himself as a fanatic engraving. He said that engraving can be done only by fanatics. After watching, and it lasted pretty long, all sat down for a bountiful table. Like a student, I was sent for reinforcements. Remember, bring three bottles of black heads, as it was then popularly known as vodka with a wax blockage. This vodka was cheaper than the white head, from which we can conclude that the financial ability Sinitsyna was running out…”

(1927-2007)

Student Sinitsyna. Lived in Cherkizovo. An unusually gifted artist. For a long time he lived in Novosibirsk. Designed books, made filmstrips. In 1990 moved to Israel. About his childhood on the outskirts of Moscow wrote:

“we at wasteland were brought from all over the city to dump all sorts of things. There we were the sole masters. Was particularly attracted to piles of garbage with a lamp factory in the sawdust to find melted pieces of black glass “bagatelle” – the subject of barter. The occasion was the appearance of the trucks with a confectionery factory: if you are lucky, you can become the owner of a lump of caramel mixed with shavings and sawdust. Of course, chasing the soccer rag “ball”, trying to get to the gate, marked by two bricks. And all sorts of childish games: rounders, in Canary, knives, and, together with the girls, – tag, hide and seek, “shtander” (a game with a real ball). Staged impromptu “concerts”.

Under the old age have always remembered the child, a Moscow suburb, progorod powdering, long-vanished…”

(1932-2016)

Student Sinitsyna. Phenomenal graphic artist, illustrated over a hundred books. We engaged in correspondence. Here are a few lines about the Teacher:

“Famous watercolor landscape Ostroumova-Lebedeva, who was in the room Sinitsyna, literally reminded me of my favorite Sokolniki ponds with their wet, foggy lyricism, wrote me Lev Petrovich. – The basis of a permanent work of Nikolai Vasilievich thought a daily drawing from life. The number and quality of drawings and sketches, sketches and portraits – this requirement was essential as the training, and most importantly (I realized much later) as the comprehension of nature, of man and of his doings. Figureacce and to draw, without choosing, without wasting time. This Covenant is followed by still”.

I remembered 1883. Howled a Great post. Melted snow on the roofs, and from the workshop of a great artist Alexei Kondratyevich Savrasov, our Professor, in the window were visible the blue forest, Sokolniki, Big forest which lay far away on the horizon. The spring sun shone away the suburban churches, and large homes public buildings – schools, College, barracks.

Spring, rosabel. I have a Levitan, Savrasov students, long boots. Boots we have to walk outside the city, near Moscow, in nature, to write sketches from nature. And in the nature near Moscow in the spring right miracles: the Moscow river, the ice drift. Overflowed the river, flew rooks, shouting through the gardens of the monastery. Larks sing in the clouds of the spring sky. Panin meadow, Ostankino, Sokolniki, New village, Pererva, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya, Kuntsevo, Kuskovo, and how many of them, places of indescribable beauty <…>

Today we will go to Sokolniki, – said Levitan.

a Small box of paints to take to the pocket. To write essays spring.

Konstantin Korovin.

(1931 – 2013)

Student Sinitsyna. Children’s book Illustrator, artist and philosopher who sought in painting the effect of hyperrealism. About Sokolniki wrote with love:

“our Home on Malenkovskaya street was gloomy and quarrelsome, but I didn’t notice it. Our family squabbles are not affected, and the habit of paying everything back to normal. But those who come to us for the first time, sensitive to the gloom that prevailed in the house, and thick air, saturated with fumes and communal life.

so I close my eyes and see the seeds of a Linden, frozen in the darkened spring snow, and around each bulb gleaming a thin strip of water. Bright puddles and rivulets in the yard. See green flies, basking on the plank wall of the vestibule at the back door and sunbeams floating in the dust particles, penetrating into the dark room through the cracks in the shutters on the Windows.

Our house built before the revolution by an Englishman Förster, was a typical English mansion. The two floors. The bottom brick, the top of the log, no jewelry. The roof is steep, with one tube and many attic Windows. In Soviet times, the house became the “crow colony.” Anyone out there nor have visited! I often heard stories about how Geltser danced on the table, as the singing of Shalyapin and on the street in front of open Windows was a crowd of people. There was a story about how Moskvin fell asleep in the dog kennel, and the janitor, with all respect addressed him: “Your honor, it’s time in the theatre. Kindly to it.”

(1931-1986)

Student Sinitsyna. The brightest representative of unofficial art. Famous poet Genrikh Sapgir made him a hero of his poem “Sokolniki”

Zverev is also always remembered Sokolniki:

“it’s good to dream and sleep and I dreamt about white loaves with raisins. When the mother brought the bread, a few “shaded” the smell of leather or acetone, that I liked for some reason…

His sister Zinaida Hotel recalled:

“Sinitsyn was the Tolley class teacher, he duty was to visit parents of their students. But no the obligation we felt. First, because the brother was a good painter, and secondly, because Nikolai is very located to our mother wringing Nikiforovna. She baked wonderful pies, larks, and Brawn was able to do like no. Mother raised three of us alone, father died in 1943. We lived in shestnadtsatiletnego room six of us in a wooden house with a stove – there’s four of us and my cousin with my mom. We were poor, but loved to drink it. And Nikolai passes by and comes. He lived nearby, alone…”

(19??)

Student Sinitsyna. Artist, about whom nothing is known today, left a tiny essay about the Teacher

“in 1942. School No. 370 in Sokolniki on the 9-th Sokolniki street.

a Wonderful man Sinitsyn, Nikolai, a teacher of drawing and sketching, looking more closely during lessons to pupils of different classes, invited them in, arranged by the Art room, overgrown later in the art Studio.

After the German bombing of Moscow our art workshop was engaged in restoration work. Restored the broken sculptures in Sokolniki Park, made different signs on the stores. The liquid phosphorus wrote “the Shelter.” The production of store signage on glass “silver” or “gold” learned from the professional artists invited N. In. Sinitsyn workshop.

In the difficult year of 1942, the work in the Studio after school (I was in the fifth grade) gave us a real opportunity to acquire work skills.

Working in the Studio I am a boy 13 years old, I received a working card. What it means to understand a person familiar with the card system in wartime.

in the Fall of 1943 Nikolai told us that he had returned from evacuation mshsh – Moscow secondary art school and blessed some of us to go to take the exam.

Everyone who went passed the exams and began to study in mshsh”.

(1928)

Student Sinitsyna. He spent his childhood in Cherkizovo. Perhaps one of the best female artists in Russian history. Have achieved incredible success onarea of the engraving.

we Remembered Sinitsyn:

“Back in Moscow in 1943, almost every day, I’ve been to Nikolai. Being a debtor of the school, I immediately turned to him for help (school, I had 800 RUB for your food, staying in the village of resurrection). Parents could not raise such a sum, because in my absence the house was on fire, it was urgent to make repairs, but we lived poorly. At this time N. In. Sinitsyna worked with a group of his disciples, they did order the signs. This group Sinitsyn hooked me. Thus, he helped me earn and pay the debt in installments.”

Cut the linoleum to the mid 1990-ies. Taught. Did the prints for the postcards.

I Once asked Taisia Nikolaevna: “And there were artists who strongly influenced you?” Usually this question is answered volubly. Taisiya he said slowly: “of Course it is Anna Petrovna Ostroumova-Lebedeva…” Pause. “Modigliani…” Pause. “But in fact such artists no.”

P. S.

In 1986, Sinitsyn wrote to his disciple, Nikolai Kalita: “You ask: “if I’m ever in Sochi”? Answer: “the Krasnobogatyrskaya street house No. 75 – apartment-mousetrap N 20 will not be soon, about November S. G. for Four months while away the winter in Moscow the den in March and run in Zvenigorod. In close damp, cold microquatic to live and work impossible.

you Know, work, worries You will prihvatit. Will free up your time, mood, write a registered letter, how is it going? I will be glad to read, see You! All the best to You.

Old teacher N. Sinitsyn”.
