In the reservoirs of the Azov-don basin, the scientists found three types of alien fauna. Scientists have to assess the danger of biological species present for the traditional inhabitants of the rivers and lakes of the region.

As stated at the conference on preservation of ecosystems of the Tsimlyansk reservoir and the lower don, the Chairperson of the SSC RAS Sergey Berdnikov, the reason for the emergence of new types connected with climate change.

– Here is Corbicula clam, native to Asia, related to the 100 most dangerous invader species. Previously discovered by us, but genetic methods have to check – maybe this is a close view of the Caspian sea, then it’s not so dangerous, said the scientist.

Actively developing bottom sediments of the Azov sea Polychaeta nonindigenous Marenzelleria (polychaete marine worm). According to hydrobiologists, its occurrence in the Baltic sea has had a positive impact on the hydrochemical regime of the reservoir.

– In Tsimlyanskoe reservoir it will not fall, as she prefers salt water, but the Gulf of Taganrog and the don Delta it should be observed – is there the possibility of a positive effect, – said the scientist.

Another species of polychaetes appeared in the don Delta in 2013, and for four years made up of Semikarakorsk, and her appearance in tsimlyanskoye water reservoir only a matter of time.
