Ignatiev died June 18, in St. Petersburg from the progressive cardiovascular failure. Previously he was confirmed COVID-19, and also established bilateral pneumonia.

Mikhail Ignatyev was born on 8 January 1962 in the Small village of Tarkhan in the Cheboksary district. Was a Deputy in the Cheboksary district Council of deputies, Deputy Minister of agriculture and food of the Chuvash Republic.
In 1999, he was elected head of government of the Cheboksary district.
In January 2002, Michael Ignatieff became the first Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Minister of agriculture of the Chuvash Republic.
in 2010, the State Council of Chuvash Republic by the President of Russia gave Mikhail Ignatyev for the post of President of the Chuvash Republic.
At the end of January 2020 Ignatiev was expelled from the party “United Russia” and presidential decree dismissed in connection with loss of trust. Before that, the head of the region became involved in two major scandals within one month.
