SIMFEROPOL, 19 Jul — RIA Novosti. Large reserves of underground fresh water discovered in the Crimean mountains, said press service Sevastopol state University (Sevgi).

the Research was conducted by scientists Sevgi and research Institute of agriculture of Crimea.

“for two years researched two underground high temperature of the hearth, located in the Crimean mountains, where the formation pressure of underground fresh water. Scientists have found that a network of tectonic faults at depths of 900-1100 meters, the migration of large volumes of high-pressure underground fresh water with a temperature of 80-85 degrees. At depths of 350 to 500 meters, there are streams, migrate to the tectonic faults through the entire territory of the Crimea”, — stated in the message.

head of the research Sevgi laboratory, candidate of technical Sciences Nikolai Kovalyov, the uniqueness of flow of groundwater in that they are formed in the “natural desalination” with intensive evaporation of the coming to them of sea water:

Researchers details investigated two cross-cutting normal fault with pressurized groundwater migrating distance of more than 120 kilometers from the Crimean mountains to their submarine discharge under the waters of the Azov sea.

According to preliminary estimates, large-through the underground streams (about 20 pieces) and smaller (30 units) each year forever shed by the Azov and Black seas of fresh water in volumes more than 1 million cubic meters per day, several times exceeding the volume of their production from the upper aquifer.

According to the press service, the main problem of the extraction of deep underground water — the high cost of drilling. However, in Crimea there are areas where high-pressure underground fresh water flow from the lower aquifers at the top (to depths of 300 meters or less).

“the Discovery of these plots gives the opportunity to drill shallow wells with high flow rate”, — stressed in the University.

Previously, up to 85% of needs of the Crimea in fresh water was provided to Ukraine coming from the Dnieper through the North Crimean channel. However, after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia water flow through the channel in the Republic was completely stopped unilaterally. Now the water issue is solved by reservoirs of natural filling, which over the past year significantly obmelel due small amount of precipitation, but also by drilling wells and extraction of water from underground sources.
