Grigory Isayev was born in the village of Garden Krasnopartisansky district of Saratov region. When he was in school, the family moved to Kuibyshev (now Samara), where a young man Perd serving in the army he worked in the locomotive depot. After demobilization he entered the Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1970.
