In the Cabinet of the Russian Federation supported the bill on distance education. The document was approved by the government Commission on legislative activities.

The bill was brought up for discussion in the state Duma on may 15. Its authors — senators Ilyas Umakhanov, Liliya Gumerova, Dmitry Vasilenko and Grigory Karasin suggested Ministry of education approval authority of the order of e-learning and distance educational technologies. The same authority in the field of higher education in the document transferred to the Ministry of education.

These changes are aimed at legislative strengthening of the provisions on the delimitation of powers of the Ministry of education and Ministry of science and higher education establishing a framework for the application of e-learning, — stated in the document, the text of which is quoted by RIA Novosti.

The introduction of distance learning in schools and higher educational institutions became the subject of lively public debate. Initially, the transfer of learning in the online format was implemented by the authorities to prevent the spread COVID-19, but now many parents fear that this practice will continue after the epidemic is over.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of education Sergey Kravtsov said that online technologies are not able to completely replace face-to-face learning in school. However, they can be used for education during outbreaks of colds.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin called all the rumors about the transition to online education challenges. The head of state stressed that online learning will not replace traditional, which “educates and shapes the individual,” wrote NEWS.ru.
