The chief editor of RT Margarita Simonyan commented on the statement by Russian Prosecutor General on the return of detainees in Belarus Russians.

On Friday evening, the Prosecutor General’s office of Russia reported that 32 Russians detained in Minsk in July, returned home. The Ministry clarified that one of the detainees remained in Belarus because he has the citizenship of the Republic.

Recall that the detained Russians declared PMCs soldiers of Wagner. It was reported that many of them allegedly participated in the fighting in the Donbass on the side of DND and LNR. While Kiev requested Minsk to extradite Russians who were Ukrainian citizens, and on 12 August was sent to the Prosecutor General of Belarus extradition requests 28 citizens suspected of involvement in the fighting in the Donbass.

At the same time mass media with reference to sources in the Russian special services reported that the detention of the Russians was the result of large-scale provocations organized by Ukrainian law enforcers.

The situation was discussed by the presidents of both countries – Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
