In Petrozavodsk on the Day of the airborne troops was opened a monument to trooper Denis Timashova, who died in 2000 during counterterrorist operation in the Chechen Republic.

As reported TASS, guard Sergeant Denis Timashov was one of the 84 Marines of the sixth company who died in the Argun gorge near Ulus-Kert on March 1, 2000. By presidential decree he was posthumously awarded the order of Courage.

a Memorial bust was opened in the new residential area of Petrozavodsk in the street which bears the name of Denis Timashova. It became part of the nationwide project for the installation of monuments to the heroes of military conflicts.

In the opening ceremony of the monument was attended by the Chairman of the Union of paratroopers of Karelia Nikolay Golovanov, the sister of the deceased Irina Timashova, representatives of the authorities and the people of Petrozavodsk.
