Women’s season can be extended in order to help the tennis players, if the economy is suffering from the coronapausen.

There may be help on the way to the female tennis players who have ended up in financial trouble because all the tournaments are paused or canceled because of the corona virus.

the Women’s tennis federation, the WTA, is working on giving players more opportunities to earn money, when at one time again can be played.

It writes Reuters.

– the WTA is working hard with its tournaments in order to maximize earnings capacity, when the professional tennissæson starts up again, and is considering an extension of the 44-week-long season, so there may be more tournaments.

– It is our hope to return to the levels as quickly as possible. When our players, fans and staff’s health and safety can be guaranteed, we start up again, says the WTA, according to Reuters.

It is especially the lower ranked players, who are economically dependent on frequent participation in tournaments, which is not possible for the time being.

All tournaments on the WTA tour and the men’s ATP tour is suspended until 7. June.

The lower-ranked ITF-tournaments are postponed until 8. June.
