Turkey was named the favorite country of Russian tourists to travel during the coronavirus pandemic. In the first nine months of 2021, the republic accounted for 63 percent of all foreign trips. Such information appeared on the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

Among the popular resorts, ATOR Executive Director Maya Lomidze also mentioned Cyprus, Egypt, the UAE and the Maldives.

According to analysts, in 2021, Russians made 5.24 million trips to the most popular foreign destinations. Nevertheless, in comparison with 2019, the indicators of outbound tourism have significantly decreased. For example, the number of international air traffic decreased by 3.3 times.

Lomidze noted that due to insufficient volumes of air transportation abroad and covid restrictions, there is an increase in the price of tourist services.

Earlier in October, experts of the travel and travel service “TUTU.” revealed the main reasons for Russians’ love of travel. As a result, it turned out that the majority goes on trips to other cities and countries to change the situation (36 percent of respondents). For 19 percent of respondents, traveling is a way to take a break from work.
