Despite the fact that in some countries for a long time continued the war and after may 9, 1945, they cannot be considered as a continuation of the great Patriotic war (WWII), said historian and journalist Nikolai Svanidze.

Svanidze pointed out that “the Great Patriotic war ended on may 9, 1945 capitulation of Nazi Germany”. After “the war continued in Poland and the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, and in Lithuania, and some took years – but they were already outside of the second world war”, reports Ura.ru.

The historian noted that it is difficult to say unequivocally, against which there was a war.

“the official position of the Soviet Union, we fought with the nationalists. And the position of the enemy, the Soviet Union, in turn, was the fact that it fought the Patriotic forces against the Soviet occupation. How someone interprets. And the Great Patriotic war is the war against Nazi Germany”, – he explained.

Svanidze noted that the real date of the end of World war II is September 2, 1945.

We will remind, in April the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the law on the transfer of a 2 to 3 September the day of military glory – the day of the end of world war II.
