Moscow developers are opposed to isolation

Developers in Moscow and Moscow region opposed the government’s decision to freeze almost all construction during the regime of isolation. About it writes “Kommersant”.

the Construction company appealed to the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin with a request to partially lift the moratorium, otherwise the negative consequences will affect not only developers, but also industry (manufacturing of structures) with banks (defaulted loans to developers). Currently, work is only allowed at the health facilities, subway, rail, public transport and airports.

Initially, the restriction was introduced for the period from 13 to 19 April, but developers fear that the moratorium will be extended. The authors of the appeal asked mishustina to assist in defrosting (subject to all necessary measures to protect workers from pandemic), at least those objects where there is open work on monolithic and panel construction.

a Likely reason for the suspension of the construction site, which can be a nidus of coronavirus. Many of the workers live there in close quarters, which contributes to transmission of infection. It is possible that the moratorium could be extended to other regions of the country.

One of the interviewed experts argues that if the ban on work will last a month, for most developers it will not lead to significant risks. However, for developers the individual regions estimated the losses could reach 4-7 billion a week. Other interviewed experts believe that in the Moscow region for a week of downtime, the developers generally lose about 150-170 billion rubles. In the end, with serious financial difficulties, about 75 percent of developers in the Moscow market.
