About his decision to finish his playing career Benedikt Howedes has told in interview to the newspaper Der Spiegel. 32-year-old admitted that he took this decision due to the fact that he wanted to spend more time with his family.
“I noticed how much joy it brings me, the time I spend with my son. Football suddenly ceased to have meaning for me,” he said.
Howedes from 2007 to 2018 played 335 matches in the “Schalke 04” in which he scored 23 goals. In season 2017/18 it was leased at Juventus, for whom he played all three meetings.
In 2018, he moved to Lokomotiv Moscow, for whom he played 50 matches and scored 4 goals. In the German national team he played 44 matches and scored two goals opponents. In 2014, the national team became world champion.
