“With Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic we extensively talked about the major issues of our bilateral relations, – said the Minister. – They are developing very rapidly – in line connecting Moscow and Belgrade strategic partnership. Happy rich nature of the political dialogue, primarily at the highest level. Today discussed in detail the implementation of our presidents reached agreements during the visit of Mr. Aleksandar Vucic in Sochi in December of last year and during a series of telephone conversations that followed this year”.

the Head of the Russian foreign Ministry stressed that the Russian position on the Kosovo settlement are unchanged. “Today we once again confirmed, – said Lavrov. – Will support any efforts, steps and initiatives that will help Belgrade and Pristina to reach a viable and mutually acceptable solution on the basis of resolution 1244 of the UN security Council. Recall that it was at the suggestion of Russia, I would say at the insistence of Russia, the resolution reaffirmed the territorial integrity of Serbia. First and foremost, this decision, which we all want to achieve, must comply with international law and, of course, must receive the approval of the UN Security Council. It is about ensuring international peace and security in this important region of Europe. We believe that boosting the so-called “final normalization”, to adjust it under any artificial deadlines would be counterproductive. As repeatedly said Russian President Vladimir Putin, we agree only with this solution that satisfies the Serbs themselves, protect their legitimate rights and interests in Kosovo”.

“When considering the current international and regional issues, we confirmed the coincidence of our positions on most of the directions, – stated the head of the Russian foreign Ministry. – Moscow and Belgrade – supporters of strengthening of democratic principles in international life, building interstate communication on a solid Foundation of international law, especially the principles of the UN Charter. Agreed to continue close coordination in various multilateral platforms, including the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe. Confirmed the country’s readiness to continue to support the Serbian partners in defending the legitimate rights of Serbia in relation to the Autonomous province of Kosovo. We agree that a fundamental role in the Kosovo settlement continues to play a UN security Council resolution 1244, fully retains its relevance. We also discussed the situation in other parts of South-Eastern Europe, the Balkans. For its part expressed support for the course of the leadership of Serbia on the development of constructive neighbourly relations with all countries of the Balkan region. We commend the efforts of Belgrade to maintain peace and stability in this important part of the European continent”.

the Russian Minister, after talks with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church Irinej noticed that the world situation is compounded by the rather aggressive promotion of our Western partners to the neoliberal values that they are trying to impose on everyone else. “In this situation, all responsible States should defend its history, culture and traditions that his ancestors, – said Lavrov. – Russia together with Serbia and a number of other like-minded people firmly holds the line. In doing so, we act in the same direction with the Orthodox churches including the Russian Orthodox Church, Serbian Orthodox Church, which traditionally defended not only their centuries-persistent values, but always played the role of peacekeepers. It’s not to everyone’s taste, especially those who are trying to establish their own “unique” orders for the entire globe, therefore Orthodox churches in all countries where they are subjected to harsh attacks. These attacks need to oppose the power of the spirit that have always characterised the Orthodox people. Russia will always defend the interests of Orthodox churches to oppose the attempts of state intervention in their internal Affairs, to act hand in hand with the Orthodox churches and their hierarchs in the promotion of the ideals of peacemaking to calm the many conflicts in our common space”.
