Ukraine in the framework of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) and operation joint forces (OOS) on the East of the country and of spying for Russia’s actions in Crimea and other border areas of the Western uses the spacecraft remote sensing of the Earth, according to consulting Agency Defense Express.

According to him, the main tasks of space exploration systems (CEB) during the ATO (and its successor the EP) act, in particular, determination of the composition, the position and movement of enemy forces, the revelation of the command and control system, detection engineering obstacles, the identification of new models of military equipment and estimation results of fire destruction of the enemy.

Defense Express notes that Ukraine has agreements with 19 States on the exchange of satellite data, including the construction of spacecraft. The Agency emphasizes American DigitalGlobe satellites and French Pleiades.

“for instance, only the American company DigitalGlobe per day has the ability to remove satellites WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 to more than 17 thousand square kilometers of the zone of the EP,” writes Defense Express.

the Agency reminds that the resolution of the Pleiades spacecraft is 50 inches, and -3 satellite WorldView — 30 cm, DigitalGlobe and has permission from the us authorities on the sale of images of a resolution of 40 centimeters.

Speaking about the Ukrainian satellites, Defense Express said that the spacecraft “Sich-2” completed the term of service, and work on its replacement, “Sich-2” is still not complete. When this resolution first was 8.2 meters, while the second should be equal to 2.5 meters.

“For solving problems of CEB is now in dire need of space images with high resolution (one meter)”, — says the Agency, noting that the production of one satellite requires high resolution from 50 to 200 million dollars.

In the publication Defense Express does not mention the first Ukrainian geostationary telecommunications satellite “Lybid”, which is produced by the canadian company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, but is in Russia in the city of Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai in the territory of the enterprise “Information satellite systems named after Reshetnev” in anticipation of the launch from the Baikonur cosmodrome on virtually withdrawn from the production of Ukrainian rocket “Zenit-3SLБФ”.

In March, Defense Express has posted on YouTube a video control practical training of the 54th mechanized brigade on one of the polygons of Ukraine, which shows the combat power of the army of the country.
