John – Chapter 20

According to the Luther Translation 1912

Easter morning

1 On the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2 so she came running to Simon Peter and the other Disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith to them: they have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. (John 13.23)

3 so Peter and the other Disciple started for the tomb. 4 so they ran both together: and the other Disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre, 5 look, and the linen clothes lying; he went in, but. 6 then Simon Peter came after him and went into the sepulchre and the linen clothes lying, 7 and the napkin, that Jesus was tied to the main, laid to the lines, but apart from, wrapped together in a place by itself. (John 11.44) 8 the other Disciples into it went There, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. 9 For they knew not the Scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. (Luke 24.25-27) (Acts 2.24) (1. Corinthians 15.4) 10 then the Disciples went back to their homes.

Mary Magdalene

11 but Mary stood before the tomb and cried out. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and sees two angels in white sitting, had a the pillows and at the feet, as they laid the body. 13 And said to her, woman, what have you weinest? She speaks to you: you have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. 15 he Saith unto her, woman, what are you weinest? Whom thou searchest? She thinks it is the gardener, saith to him: sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will get him. 16 Jesus Saith to her: Mary! She turned herself, and saith to him: Rabboni (which means teacher)!

17 Jesus Saith to her: do not touch me! because I am not yet ascended to my father. But go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend to my father and your father, to my God and your God. (Hebrews 2.11-12) 18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples: I have seen the LORD, and that he had said to me.

The full of the Disciples

19 On the evening of that same first day of the week, when the Disciples gathered together and the doors were locked for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, peace be with you! 20 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then were the Disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. (1. John 1.1)

21 then Jesus said to them again: peace be with you! Even as the father has sent me, so send I you. (John 17.18) 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost! 23 What are the sins you erlasset, they are forgiven them; if you retain, they are retained. (Matthew 18.16)

Thomas

24 but Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not there twin, is with them when Jesus came. (John 11.16) (John 14.5) (John 21.2) 25 the other Disciples therefore said to him: We have seen the LORD. But he said to them: unless I see in his hands the nails to see times and put my Finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my Hand into his side, I will not believe it. (John 19.34)

26 And about eight days were again indoors, his Disciples and Thomas was with them. Jesus is coming, because the doors were locked, and stood in the midst, and saith to them: peace be with you! 27 Then saith he to Thomas, reach hither thy Finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy Hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 and Thomas answered and said to him: My LORD and my God! (John 1.1) 29 Jesus Saith to him: Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, believed because you. Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed. (Hebrews 11.1) (1. Peter 1.8)

30 and many other signs Jesus did before his disciples which are not written in this book. (John 21.24-25) 31 but These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and your life by Faith you have in his name. (1. John 5.13)
