Scale deforestation grow.

While the world’s attention focused on pandemic coronavirus, deforestation in the Amazon rain forest has increased dramatically, according to the national Institute for space research of Brazil (INPE).

INPE uses satellite images to monitor the scale of deforestation. According to the latest data, they reached a new high. For 4 months from the beginning of the year in the Brazilian Amazon has been destroyed 1.2 thousand square kilometers of forest. It’s 55% more than in the same period last year and the highest figure since tracking start in August 2015.

last year, deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon increased by 85% and amounted to 10.1 thousand square kilometers of forest, which is comparable with the territory of Lebanon.
