The head of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate on relations of the Church with society and mass-media Vladimir Legoyda explained a large amount of jokes and criticism from youth to address the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) that the priests and the people themselves often give this reason. This opinion he shared with the leading popular-history channel “11 ECU” on YouTube.
“Today often representatives of the Church give rise to some… Under "representatives" I mean just priests and laity, they give a reason for such a comment,” — said Legoyda.
Other causes of criticism from the youth, he said, can be her usual “rebellion”, but also a kind of folk culture.
“on the one hand, and let’s be honest look at our culture that was not "the tale of the priest and his worker Balda"? Well, she was, and this is not the beginning of the XXI century — is the first half of the nineteenth century. And, accordingly, a classic, probably not on an empty place it is written,” — said Legoyda.
He also noted that the inherent rebellion of youth often extends to the older generations, politics. In addition, criticism of the Church is often caused by fashion trends. Himself Legoyda, according to him, is not afraid of such statements to the Russian Orthodox Church and believes that Church deep and helps a person find most important in life.
