International cooperation and exchange of experience between doctors during a pandemic is not stopped. Fortunately, modern technologies allow to conduct webinars from anywhere in the world. Leading specialists of the Center of interventional Cardioangiology First MSMU n. a. I. M. Sechenov first participated in serious international webinar of the European Union of medical specialists (UEMS). The focus of attention of the doctors was, of course, the new coronavirus, and the topic was “Diagnosis and endovascular treatment of cardiovascular complications in patients COVID-19”. Details of “MK” said academician of RAS, honorary Director of the centre David Ioseliani.

This webinar is not only the exchange of valuable scientific ideas. After the event, the audience receives an e-mail tests. Each lecturer is in advance questions on its material with three answers. The trainees should fill the feedback form and the form to evaluate the event and send to the organizers (UEMS). After that, the students receive “credits”, which play an important role in issuing licenses, certificates, etc. Even a very famous and eminent experts receive credits for participation in conferences, because it helps them in the profession.

— the Idea to organize this webinar came from the Director of the Institute of professional education sechenovskiy University, Professor Yevgeniya V. Shih, says Mr. Sanakoev. We, of course, intended purely cardiology topics, but today COVID firmly established in the life of every medical professional. So I decided to dedicate the event to the treatment of cardiovascular disease during a pandemic COVID-19. The main condition of the organizers was the participation in the webinar of the two countries, and we had to choose a partner. We chose Riga colleagues we have worked with world-renowned Professor Andris ērglis, and was attended by the Director of our center Sergei Semitko. We made presentations. I had the introductory presentation about what the COVID-19, with a focus on cardiovascular pathology, and then we talked about the tactics of treatment of such patients. Professor Erglis made a report “the Treatment of acute coronary syndrome and cardiovascular diseases during a pandemic COVID-19”. The majority of hospitals during a pandemic worldwide reclassified under the treatment of coronavirus infection, and of course, at first there was a lot of questions: how to treat other patients, patients with chronic diseases? Now the world selected a single tactic: anything that is not urgent, not urgent, it is advisable to postpone. Such patients is best treated by medication, and then when the pandemic will weaken or go away can be they surgery. Of course, this creates discomfort, but the lesser of two evils always choose the lesser.

— How was the webinar?

— there Were four reports, each lasting for 45 minutes and took place in English (this is also the conditions of participation in this event). Then there was discussion, questions, answers. It took everything just fine. The first time we participated in this webinar. This is a very serious organization, and to participate in its activities is necessary to pass serious selection. Now all over Europe held webinars to physicians in the framework of this Alliance, but they claim not all subjects and not all reports. Our adopted what has become the achievement for domestic medicine. The data of our reports we plan to publish.

At your center were patients with coronavirus infection?

— of Course. If the patient arrives with suspected coronavirus infection, which will debut sometimes vascular symptoms, we will do a CT scan, or take a test. In addition, the virus gives a lot of complications, and brain, and vascular. We do stenting for these patients.

I think a very important conclusion from our webinar is that during a pandemic, when people, which is quite natural, fear of contamination and in this respect sometimes do not dare to go to the doctors, should not stop the treatment of serious diseases. We can’t abandon our patients simply on the basis that there is a risk of catching COVID-19. It is necessary to take all precautions to protect doctors. Professor Erglis rightly noted that it is necessary to consider any enrolled in the clinic the patient as a potential carrier of the virus — because, unfortunately, our tests do not provide an instant response. But patients should seek help, and specialized hospitals and departments should continue to provide this assistance.

in addition, we have today observed the first volunteers, which explored a new vaccine against SarsCov2. All without a hitch. Soon we write them under surveillance. For their health and reaction to the vaccine the doctors will be watching for the next several months. After summarizing the results of the test, the Ministry of health will evaluate the results and decide on its applicability.

World famous cardiologist Andris Erglis — Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Latvia, Director of the Latvian cardiology centre:

— I was very pleased to take part in a seminar organized by the European society for medical professionals and Sechenovskiy University, together with Professor David Iosseliani. During this meeting we discussed the latest information concerning COVID-19 and its impact on heart disease. We exchanged experience in the treatment of serdechno-vascular diseases and their complications in terms of COVID-19. There is good evidence that patients with lesions of the cardiovascular system are the most vulnerable from the point of view of infection with the new coronavirus. On the other hand, we must not forget that heart disease remains the number 1 killer in the world, regardless COVID-19. I firmly believe that in the present circumstances, when there is reason to expect further spread of the coronavirus, it is very important, maybe more important than ever to strengthen international cooperation among physicians. Our knowledge, our experience and, finally, our solidarity will help us to defeat the virus.
