Jada Pinkett Smith, 50, has addressed her husband Will Smith, 53,’s attack on comedian Chris Rock, 57, at this year’s Oscars. Speaking ahead of a new episode of her Facebook show Red Table Talk, the actress said she hopes the two will reconcile.

“This is a really important ‘Red Table Talk’ about alopecia,” Smith opens the video. Thousands of people reached out to the 50-year-old with their own stories after the Oscar slap. She wants to use the issue to show what it’s like to suffer from alopecia.

Then she briefly talks about the attack. “Well, on Oscars night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, speak out and reconcile,” said Pinkett Smith. Both would be needed given the current world situation. “And we all need each other more than ever,” she continues. Until then, she and her husband would be doing exactly what they have been doing for the past 28 years. The couple will therefore try together to fathom “this thing called life”.

Smith took to the stage at the Oscars and gave Rock a resounding slap in the face after the comedian made a joke about the Hollywood star’s wife. She appears to be preparing for the sequel to The Jane Files – an obvious nod to the actress having shaved her head. The 1997 film starred Demi Moore (59) with her hair shaved off. Jada Pinkett Smith has long suffered from alopecia, hair loss caused by a disease.

Smith later reported via Instagram. “I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he said, among other things. His behavior was “unacceptable and inexcusable”. The actor had also announced that he was leaving the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She then banned him from all Academy events, including the Oscars, for the next ten years.
