Donald trump voiced the idea to move the presidential election. He is motivated by the fact that in a pandemic, and a large percentage of the vote “in the distance” it will be impossible to control the fairness of counting of votes. When the President realized that’s stalling, then explained that the elections should be held on time. But trump has openly stated that he was afraid of the fraud in the Democrats-controlled States. It is therefore necessary to postpone the election to a later date, when the usual election Commission will count all properly. Many experts rushed to talk about the likelihood of postponement of elections and trompovsky hidden motives. But “MK” responsibly declares: even if if the postponement of the elections was dominated by Donald trump, he would never have taken such a decision.
the American electoral system is good for its stability. For example, the date of presidential elections in 2020, knew Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant. So that trump would be, to put it mildly, do not understand, if he decided to postpone the election.
However, trump could not move to any election in its decision. Even if he declared a state of emergency, he still wouldn’t have enough power to just take and to postpone the elections, say, for a year.
In the US Constitution does not indicate a clear date for the elections, although traditionally the vote is held “the first Tuesday after the first Monday” of November (it’s a weird wording, but it de facto guarantees that the elections will not pass 1 numbers).
However, in the main law of the country stated: Congress has the right to appoint a single election day. And Congress could indeed vote to move the money, only the House of representatives controlled by the Democrats, who never on such step will not go.
But let’s say, theoretically, that the Democrats for some unknown reason, ready to postpone the election. Let’s say that the Republicans, who immediately rejected the idea of its President, changed the opinion. Then… they will still not be possible to postpone the election in 2021. That is technically possible, but even at the theoretical level, such an assumption seems absurd.
If elections are not held before Jan 2021, in America chaos begins. The fact that Konstituli not spelled out specific election date, but the expiry date of powers of the President very marked. Powers trump expire at noon on January 20, 2021, and if by the time the President is elected, his powers will not last – the country will be left without a leader.
What will happen then? In America established a very clear order of succession to the presidency. If the incumbent President is unable to perform his duties, his place is Vice President.

But you’ve already guessed what happens next – her powers (as well as all other congressmen) will expire in January 2021.
And, in General, at this stage it is clear that the chaos threatens America – without the house of representatives. For example, according to the Constitution, not make the budget. But this stuff – we still wonder who is the next in line for the presidency.
And the next not even the majority leader and temporary President of the Senate of the United States. This post is in fact formal and gives only the right to set the rules of the meetings, but in the case of total anarchy, that the temporary President of the Senate becomes head of state. But the most interesting not even that. If the election 2020 will not take place in time, then the Republicans will lose the majority in the Senate. In January 2021 terminate the powers of the 34 senators. Most of them are Republicans, so in case of postponement of elections and transition Chuck Grassley for President, the Democrats will have 35 senators against 29 Republicans.
