Ekaterina Semenchuk: New for me party, and could not be more timely in my repertoire now, when comes the period of maturity – the creative and human. I hope in the coming months, the Opera will be performed and will be the event: “maid of Orleans” incredibly interesting, multi-faceted, there is a living language, rich orchestra, the most beautiful ensembles, a huge number of solo numbers from Joanna, she on the stage from beginning to end, while the heroine will not burn. We know the great John performers: Irina Arkhipova, it – Sophia Preobrazhenskaya, after – Nina Rautio. Opera is very rarely due to the high complexity and volume. All that was in the Tchaikovsky, there and lyrics, and drama, a lot of very bright pages and grimly terrible. This is one of my favorite works of Pyotr Ilyich, and I believe that the “maid of Orleans” come back, continue your way and in Russia and in the world, because her “time has come”. Everything comes in due time when necessary.

Ekaterina Semenchuk: Few think that John – the same Joan of Arc. With this Aria I graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. We often want to take the most difficult, while only in the earliest stages of a creative way. The older I get, the more responsible attitude. Me Tchaikovsky has always captivated and scared at the same time. He is a difficult composer for the singer uses different colors, the entire range nourishes dramatically. You just have to be prepared to comprehend and articulate all this incredible musical palette. And the most difficult concert is a recital of Tchaikovsky’s romances, because every romance requires total immersion and absolute freedom. Rarely drawn to the romances of Tchaikovsky.

you Have scheduled a concert of Tchaikovsky’s romances in the “Stars of the white nights”?

Ekaterina Semenchuk: unfortunately, the current situation, all of us, artists and listeners, knocked out of the usual creative channels. But we continue to prepare new works, to do and to believe that the concert will be held. Our evening Tchaikovsky was planned on July 17. Two branches of Tchaikovsky’s romances – such in my life will be for the first time. It takes more than a year of hard work and reflection, the program is structured from the first his romance and ends with the last “Again as before alone.”

Ekaterina Semenchuk: Each program should make us reflect not only students, but ourselves – about our place in this life, how we live what follow is what is the likely result. Tchaikovsky is a world recognized leader in the executable. But mostly I only know a few of the most popular of his romances, “Onegin”, “Queen”, ballets. Very fast pace of life, and not all of you have time to catch, let alone comprehend. Valery Gergiev is a big advocate of Tchaikovsky’s music. Thanks to him, we have heard the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s rarely performed not only in the West but also in Russia: “the enchantress” or “Mazeppa,” for example. Believe that in the near future will be a performance of “virgin of Orleans”. Work in full swing, my colleagues such an inner fire, life-saving today, in anticipation of what is bound to happen. And it unites us in such a difficult time.

it was Hard to survive artists the quarantine period?

Ekaterina Semenchuk: is not easy, because not everyone can afford to work at home – no tool, small children, neighbours, and other serious problems. After all, the singer must always sing, to work, to be in shape. Many people now think about an additional profession or even change. Each of us has a family and a serious commitment not only in front of him. Very complex, heavy and not creative time. Because the profession of the artist is very demanding, requires incredible willpower and perseverance, faith in yourself, and in a situation that has to happen something good. Creativity in this case still helps.

All the musicians, artists lost their contracts, and you in particular. Now it appears the certainty?

Ekaterina Semenchuk: Contract to transfer is unrealistic and unnecessary. There’s no telling what theaters and great colleagues waited, who lost contracts, opportunities, money. My happiness is that I am now at home, need your Mariinsky theatre, their city, their audience, their family. And day by day I build what you need today and tomorrow. Perhaps I did not get something, but the time and history does not tolerate subjunctive mood. So let’s look wise that is. Today we had rehearsal, I had the opportunity to come to work, open notes, there’s concertmaster, with whom we have something to learn, and there is a prospect to do it. Of course, this downtime for all artists, the output of tone working condition is the worst. To find its form, will take many months. We need to have the strength and tenacity of spirit, health to to overcome.

Ekaterina Semenchuk was born in Minsk. He studied in Minsk and St.-Petersburg Conservatory (class of Yevgenia Gorokhovskaya). Debuted at the Mariinsky theatre in 1999 in the party LEL. Winner of several international competitions, including Operalia in Los Angeles and the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. Soloist of the Mariinsky theatre, performing in major Opera those��fuck Europe and America, at the Salzburg and Edinburgh festivals. Her repertoire includes roles in operas by Verdi, Berlioz, Saint-Saens, Bizet, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Mascagni, Donizetti.

At the opening of “Stars of the white nights” leading Mariinsky Opera soloists sang the arias and ensembles from operas, which will soon appear in the repertoire of the Mariinsky theatre: “die Meistersinger von nürnberg”, “Manon” Puccini and Massenet, “Andre Chenier”, “La Gioconda”, “Lakme”, “Bat”.
