the second reading of the draft law introduced a new article, according to which voting in elections and referendums may be held “for several days in a row, but no more than three days.” Such decision can be accepted not later than in ten days from the day of appointment of elections and not subject to revision.
In the case of a decision on holding the elections within three days, voting with absentee ballots and early voting are not conducted.
the New article also provides for the possibility to vote outside the polling stations, as well as groups (in locations where no premises for voting and the transport message with which is difficult).
This procedure is proposed to extend on elections of deputies of the State Duma. The nearest of the Duma campaign will take place next year.
the consideration of the bill in the third reading is scheduled for July 21. According to the head of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation Andrei Klishas, the senators are ready to discuss it at the final meeting of the spring session on July 24.
In the case of adoption of the document the new rules will not affect the Single voting day on 13 September 2020, as the campaign has already started, said the head of the Duma Committee on rules Olga Savastyanova.
