UK Finance and Health Ministers Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid have resigned in protest at Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Two UK ministers have resigned amid the sexual harassment scandal by a leading Tory party member. Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Health Minister Sajid Javid announced their withdrawals on Tuesday evening, harshly criticizing Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Javid says he has ‘lost’ faith in Johnson. In his letter, Sunak says that “the public has a right to expect the government to be properly, competently and reputably run.” He adds: “I believe that these standards are worth fighting for and that’s why I’m resigning”.

In the midst of a sexual harassment scandal in his Conservative Party, Johnson faces questions from a parliamentary committee on Wednesday (4:00 p.m. BST). The traditional questioning before the so-called Liaison Committee in the House of Commons is one of the highlights of the year in the British Parliament. On no other occasion does the head of government have so few opportunities to avoid uncomfortable questions. The event is therefore also referred to as “grilling”.

Many questions are expected about the recent scandal at Johnson’s Tories. The question is when Johnson learned of allegations of harassment against his group’s previous Vice-Whip, Chris Pincher. The Whips – translated whips – are responsible for maintaining faction discipline. Pincher resigned last week for allegedly groping two men while drunk.
