The US and Russia in Vienna confirmed the launch of the working group on space and a number of others intend to hold their meetings promptly, said RIA Novosti Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

Russian-American consultations on strategic stability issues on Monday ended in Vienna. The Russian delegation at the negotiations was headed by Ryabkov, us – special envoy of the U.S. President for arms control Marshall Billingsley. The consultation lasted about ten hours.

The original agreement with the US on establishing a working group on outer space was reached in January during the meeting on strategic stability. Later, the Russian foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti that the meeting of experts is being postponed due to the situation with the pandemic coronavirus.

"the Space group is confirmed," Ryabkov said, commenting on the results of the meeting on 22 June.

"Just waiting for the speedy abolition of restrictions on movement and we hope to hold these meetings face to face because remotely is not very convenient from different points of view. But I think that the situation will allow, and we will be able this group, and others of which we have agreed to organize quickly enough", – said the Deputy head of the foreign Ministry.

He added that he could not yet disclose the specifics of the agreed activities of the working groups.
