The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has congratulated his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on the Day of independence of Belarus, said in a telegram to Russian leader posted on the Kremlin website on Friday, 3 July.

In the document the head of state stressed the interest in further development of bilateral relations and constructive cooperation within the Union state, the Eurasian economic Union, CSTO and the CIS.

In addition, the greeting stated that between Moscow and Minsk established friendly relations and productive cooperation, coordinated joint efforts in foreign policy and defence, and also carried out major projects in trade-economic, humanitarian, scientific-technical and other spheres.

Earlier, Lukashenko promised to maintain the peaceful and independent Belarus.
