(Paris) With an abundance of jumpsuits and safari jackets, Saint Laurent celebrated on Tuesday the refinement of women of character who have established themselves in masculine domains, in a spectacular parade at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

The house’s artistic director Anthony Vaccarello “was inspired by Amelia Earhart, Adrienne Bolland and other pioneering women who infiltrated fields once considered exclusively male, like aviation and auto racing,” says the house in its note, on the second day of Paris Fashion Week.

The line is looser than previous seasons with pronounced shoulders and the waist highlighted by a belt on ultra-thin models.

They parade mysterious and conquering, hands in their pockets, red mouths, their gaze hidden behind sunglasses.

Massive jewelry, heeled shoes and leather gloves make these outfits very feminine. A headgear reminiscent of an aviator helmet accessorizes some of them.

Cotton and linen predominate in this collection with natural earthy colors, from olive to brown to sand, ocher and ebony. Sheer silk crepe jumpsuits almost steal the show from floor-length evening dresses.

The house changed the location of its fashion show, but remained faithful to the Eiffel Tower, which is in its logo and inseparable from its image.

The models moved in a modern and graphic decor, composed of kaleidoscopic and mineral surfaces with the tower lit in the background.
