Chairman of the state Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-UN has awarded Russian commemorative medal of Victory in the eve of the 75th anniversary of this event for their great contribution to the commemoration of Soviet soldiers killed in 1945 during the liberation of Korea. This was announced on Tuesday, the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang on his page on Facebook.
“In accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-UN awarded the jubilee medal “75 years of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945″ for his great personal contribution to the commemoration of the dead and buried on the territory of the DPRK, and Soviet citizens care about the safety of the graves and memorials of Soviet soldiers in the Korean national-Democratic the Republic”, — said the Russian diplomatic mission.
After the ceremony of handing the medal of the Russian Ambassador and the Korean Minister of foreign Affairs had a brief conversation, “which was confirmed intention to continue active efforts consistent implementation achieved in April 2019 in Vladivostok of the agreements of the leaders of the two countries aimed at further development and strengthening of multi-faceted Russian Korean cooperation.”
According to the Embassy, on the territory of the DPRK are 11 fraternal and 345 individual graves in which are buried Soviet soldiers 1 375. In the battles for the liberation of Korea in 1945 killed and died of wounds more than 4.7 thousand Soviet soldiers.
One of the main attractions of Pyongyang is the Liberation monument is located in Moranbong hill in the center of the Korean capital a monument to Soviet soldiers who died in battles for the liberation of Korea from Japanese occupation in 1945.
