An exceptional correction orbit of the International space station on Friday was held to avoid a possible collision with a fragment of the stage of the Russian rocket "proton", told RIA Novosti the representative of NASA.

Earlier in "Roskosmos" reported that the height of the ISS orbit increased by 900 metres with the help of engines docked to the station the cargo ship "Progress MS-14" to avoid possible collision with space debris. The Corporation did not specify what it represents and who owns this garbage.

"It was a chip stage of Russian rocket SL-12 (Western designation for the missile "proton" – ed.), launched in September 1987," – said the representative of NASA.

Now work on the ISS Russian cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and John Wagner, as well as American astronaut Christopher Cassidy, Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken.

For all time operation of the ISS was performed for 25 maneuver of evasion of station from space debris, while the last was in September 2015 (not counting Friday).
