The President of Russia Vladimir Putin met with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko at the opening of the Rzhev memorial to Soviet soldiers. When meeting Rzhev leaders embraced, the corresponding video is published in the Telegram-channel Agency RIA Novosti.
“it is Impossible to think without pain of the losses suffered by the Red army. Killed more than 1.3 million people. Monstrous, unthinkable figure. The importance of this battle is enormous,” — said the Russian leader.
Earlier it was reported that Putin and Lukashenko will hold negotiations in the course of events for the opening of Rzhev of the memorial.
The monument was created at the initiative of veterans of the great Patriotic war. It is a bronze sculpture with a height of 25 meters and weighing about 80 tons.
