Immunity to coronavirus in people who have had the disease drops sharply in just three months. About it reports The Guardian, citing a study by researchers from king’s College London.

According to experts, the highest content of antibodies to the virus recorded in patients three weeks after the first symptoms. Scientists say that 60 percent in this period recorded a very high level of immunity to coronavirus. However, after three months of strong immunity to infection remains only 17 percent of patients.

The researchers also said that over three months the number of antibodies in the blood of many subjects dropped to insignificant values, and some not able to record the existence of immunity. The study’s lead author Katy Dores believes that the refutation of the theory of long-term immunity to the coronavirus can have a significant impact on the process of vaccination in different countries.

Previously, scientists from the Institute of Virology of Wuhan found that I had been ill with the coronavirus of patients appeared prolonged failures of the immune system. Doctors conducted a study on the effect of coronavirus on lymphocytes — the blood cells responsible for immunity. So, it was found that lymphopenia (either temporary or persistent reduction of lymphocytes in the blood) is a common symptom in patients with COVID-19.
