A fully effective vaccine against coronavirus cannot occur in 2021. This was stated by epidemiologist and member of the Scientific Council under the Ministry of health of France Arnaud the Fountain. He was supported by his colleague from king’s College London Katie Dores, who believes that the vaccine can stop giving the result after a couple of months.

Fountain noted that despite the fact that the world made an unprecedented effort to develop an effective vaccine, it is unlikely there will be a cure in the next year. “I’ll be very surprised if in 2021 will be an effective vaccine. It’s possible that the vaccine will appear, but it will only work partially,” said epidemiologist in an interview with BFMTV. He stressed that the end of the epidemic “still very far”.

Dores, along with colleagues found that people recover from coronavirus antibodies are lost within two to three months. She claims that the vaccine can be the same way. “People may need a booster shot, as one dose of the vaccine may not be enough”, — the expert said, her words leads TASS.

In the study by king’s College London have been analysed the immune response more than 90 patients and medical staff of the two hospitals. Scientists have found that three weeks after the onset of symptoms, people went to-peak of the content in their blood of antibodies and the immunity to coronavirus was “very powerful” in 60% of patients. But three months later, only 17% of study participants maintained a strong immunity to infection, and the level of antibodies in the blood were 23 times lower than the original.
