Supermarkets and discounters raised their prices at the start of the week. Consumers have to pay a lot of money for many products. There are heavy price adjustments for sugar and powdered sugar. FOCUS online says what you need to know.
Will the next wave of prices follow?
According to information from FOCUS online, all supermarkets and discounters have raised the sugar price on the shelf. The new prices are effective October 4th.
Consumers now have to pay EUR 1.29 for the cheapest kilogram of sugar. That’s a price increase of 65 percent and 50 cents! At Aldi Nord, Aldi Süd, Penny, Lidl or Netto Marken-Discount, the sugar was still available for 79 cents last week.
There was also a whopping price increase for sugar cubes. A kilogram no longer costs 99 cents, but 1.49 euros. A price increase of 50 percent.
At best, consumers now have to pay 49 cents for powdered sugar. The price increase is 100 percent!
Butter biscuits (20 percent), coffee cream (30 percent), ketchup (50 percent), apple juice (25 percent) and honey (30 percent) also became more expensive.
Current examples:
Butter biscuits at Netto Marken-Discount (“Biscoteria”) from 1.19 cents to 1.49 euros. Similar development at Aldi Nord (brand: “Biscotto”) and at Lidl (brand: “Sondey”).
Ketchup from Aldi Süd (“Delikato”) from 99 cents to 1.69 euros. Rewe and Edeka also raised for “Yes” and “Good
On top of that! Brand manufacturers have raised prices in rows. Those who buy Alpro dairy products now pay 20 cents more at Rewe and Edeka. The oat milk cost 2.99 euros across the board on Tuesday (instead of 2.79 euros).
There are also sharp price jumps in the deep-freeze section. According to exclusive information, supermarkets and discounters have raised the prices for goose legs and goose breasts.
At Netto Marken-Discount, Edeka and Rewe, the price on the shelf has tripled, as the FOCUS online price radar shows. In a Munich Edeka branch, the price per kilogram of goose climbed from 8.99 euros to 22.79 euros. Goose legs are available from Rewe for 19.99 euros. In the previous week, the price was still 7.99 euros. In several Aldi Süd branches, the goose in the freezer was sold out on Saturday evening. The price was still a good ten euros.
The reason for the strong price development for geese is the high feed price and the increased transport costs. In addition, business in the previous year was adversely affected by bird flu. On the trading places, the price has doubled in the past few weeks, explains the chairman of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) in Rheinisch-Bergisch, Udo Güldenberg.
