“It’s slowly taking shape”: Record national player Lothar Matthäus (61) writes in his Sky column that the dominance of the series champions Bayern Munich is seriously threatened by the newly strengthened BVB. “The club has already signed three German national players. It’s slowly but surely taking shape to really challenge FC Bayern for the championship.”
Matthäus believes in new signings: The occupation of the coaching position with Edin Terzic and the new players Niklas Süle, Karim Adeyemi and Nico Schlotterbeck are promising. “And if Terzic picks up where he left off with the cup win (…), there will be a change at the top at some point with the development that has been observed in Munich recently.”
Unrest at Bayern: Matthäus believes: “The unrest at Bayern will mean that another team can also become champions.” Borussia Dortmund did not live up to expectations last season. Second place, eight points behind and an early exit from the Champions League and the DFB Cup led to the dismissal of coach Marco Rose.
